The Building Safety Liaison Officer supports the delivery of building and resident safety across Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs) and housing stock. The role leads resident engagement on safety matters, ensures clear communication, coordinates Residential Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (RPEEPs), and supports compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022 and Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver resident engagement and consultation on building safety issues.
  • Act as a key contact for residents and stakeholders, providing advice and support.
  • Maintain building safety data, compliance records, and statutory reporting information.
  • Support preparation and delivery of resident engagement strategies for HRBs.
  • Coordinate RPEEPs and person‑centred fire risk assessments for vulnerable residents.
  • Carry out property inspections (fire safety, hazards, damp/mould, HHSRS).
  • Promote safety awareness through campaigns and resident meetings.
  • Respond to resident enquiries and complaints, driving service improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop practical safety solutions.
  • Ensure accurate compliance information for building systems and equipment.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in resident consultation and engagement within housing or building safety.
  • Knowledge of building safety legislation, including Building Safety Act 2022 and Fire Safety Regulations 2022.
  • Strong understanding of building and fire safety principles and best practice.
  • Ability to manage workloads, prioritise tasks, and work across multiple sites.
  • Proficiency in IT systems, data management, and reporting with GDPR awareness.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to deliver inclusive engagement.
  • Ability to build effective partnerships with stakeholders and community groups.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work in fast‑paced environment.
