This is a high-profile, senior role at the heart of local government leadership. You will provide strategic advice across public policy, external relations, stakeholder engagement, communications and media, helping to build strong relationships with government, public sector partners, community organisations, opinion formers and the media.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic advice to the Mayor on public policy, external relations, communications and stakeholder engagement.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with government departments, public sector bodies, partners, community organisations and key influencers.
- Support the Mayor and senior leadership in delivering major priorities, projects and initiatives.
- Provide proactive and responsive media advice in a fast-moving political environment.
- Support elected members and senior officers in their roles as media representatives.
Key Requirements:
- Significant experience in external relations, public affairs, strategic communications or stakeholder engagement.
- A strong understanding of the political and public policy landscape.
- Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders.
