An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Healthcare Lawyer to join an NHS Trust in the South West on an interim basis, to start as soon as possible. The ideal candidate would be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with previous NHS experience. You will be handling a caseload of inquests and non-clinical claims reportable to NHS Resolution.
Duties may include the following:
- Leading and coordinating the organisation's response to inquests and non-clinical claims
- Securing high-quality statements within tight deadlines
- Assisting the Head of Clinical Legal Services in the provision and presenting of management reports regarding issues arising from claims
- Managing the investigation of non-clinical claims against the Trust and handle under supervision a small portfolio of clinical claims
- Supporting other members of staff through the inquest process
- Acting as the liaison lead between the Coroner's office and the Trust for inquests, ensuring there's a consistent approach to inquest management
- Attending court in person
An hourly rate of £45 - £50 via umbrella is offered for this position, as well as hybrid working flexibility. This assignment is 3 months initially and is subject to extension thereafter.
