Special Projects Contract Manager - Social Housing & Building Safety
This is a contract management-led role, rather than a purely procurement position. We are looking for a strong Contracts Manager with demonstrable experience of procuring and managing contracts within a social housing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Contract & Project Management
- Manage and oversee safety-critical contracts delivering investigative and enabling works across a large residential portfolio
- Lead the delivery of surveys, inspections and investigations, including:
- Full Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEW)
- Spandrel panel investigations
- Render and façade assessments
- Fire Risk Assessments (FRA)
- Monitor contractor performance against KPIs, specifications, quality standards and programme milestones
- Ensure contracts are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation, guidance and internal governance requirements, including PAS 9980
- Identify and manage contractual risks, performance issues and areas requiring escalation
- Develop procurement Gateway 1 and Gateway 2 reports, specifications and detailed scopes of work
- Manage tendering, evaluation, contract award and mobilisation
- Lead contractor performance management, ensuring delivery against agreed quality, cost and programme requirements
- Manage budgets associated with investigative, exploratory and enabling works
- Lead and support applications to relevant building safety and remediation funding schemes, including the Cladding Safety Scheme (CSS) and Building Safety Fund
About you:
- Significant experience in contract management within construction, housing, or building safety
- Strong understanding of external wall systems and fire safety regulations
- Proven experience managing complex, high-risk projects at scale
- Knowledge of remediation funding schemes (e.g. Cladding Safety Scheme, Building Safety Fund)
