Base pay range
We are pleased to be partnering with a Council to recruit a Senior Pensions Advisor. This role will act as a subject matter expert on the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), working as part of a dedicated team to deliver the day-to-day operations of the Council’s pension service.
- Calculate and verify redundancy and early retirement payments, liaising with the pensions administrator to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Advise on pay data for absences (e.g. sickness, strike, parental leave) and check related pension calculations
- Manage onboarding of new employers and admitted bodies into the LGPS Fund accurately and on time
- Control, monitor, and reconcile LGPS contributions with payroll providers, resolving discrepancies promptly
- Ensure correct administration of AVC deductions and accurate reporting to schemes and members
- Support the management with records, reporting, training, and guidance to payroll administrators
Candidate profile:
- Excellent working knowledge of Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) regulations
- Proven experience in a pension advisory role
- Experience working within a local council environment
- Strong understanding of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), Discretionary Payments Regulations, the State Pension Scheme, as well as HMRC and The Pensions Regulator requirements relating to pensions
Contract type: Temporary, 3 months with the possibility of extension
Working hours: Full- time, 36 hours per week. Part-time working will be considered
Location: London (1 day in the office per week)
