Role 1

Senior Category Buyer (Medical & Surgical) – Fixed Term contract – 9 months

Role 2

Senior Category Buyer (Corporate Services) – Permanent

Both roles have the same responsibilities but specialising in different categories. The roles are hybrid working with a requirement of 3 days on site per week.

Job Description:

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent procurement and contracting services, managing the routing operation and administration of the procurement service whilst identifying opportunities for efficiencies and process improvements.
  • Lead on procurement activities including planning and tender selection strategies.
  • Facilitate a competitive market for the organisations and our customer’s requirements.
  • Stakeholder management, including regular meetings to improve communication and coordination of procurement activities and defining and specifying stakeholder’s business needs.
  • Work in accordance with EU directives, national legislation, local regulations and organisation policies to include its Standard Financial Instructions.
  • Provide contract information to the Data Team to support and maintain an electronic catalogue of products and pricing information.
  • Monitor suppliers regularly against KPIs with specific contracts, ensuring continual best value for money is achieved.
  • Contribute to ensuring sustainability is considered with regards to procurement activity and work towards the organisations environmental impact.

The Person:

The ideal candidate will be education to a Degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline (for example, Business Studies of Management). They will also have:

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to work independently and manage their workload accordingly
  • Experience or knowledge of procurement, supply and contracting purposes.
  • Strong IT skills.
