I’m supporting a public sector organisation who are seeking an experienced Building Maintenance Supervisor to support the delivery of responsive repairs and maintenance services across their housing stock. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established team, playing a key role in service delivery, compliance, and operational performance.
Role: Building Maintenance Supervisor – Electrical
Start: ASAP
Duration: 3-6 Months
Rate: Negotiable
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing and controlling the day-to-day operations of a trade team to meet incoming workloads and contractual requirements
- Supervising trade operatives and providing technical guidance to ensure works are delivered efficiently and to specification
- Allocating and managing work tickets and appointments to maximise labour resources and meet target timescales
- Conducting site inspections, diagnostics, and specifying responsive repair works including materials, dimensions, drawings, and costings
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations, contractual obligations, and value-for-money principles
- Carrying out quality inspections on works in progress and completed works, initiating remedial action where required
- Monitoring and authorising timesheets, job tickets, materials orders, and stock in line with procedures
- Identifying landlord/tenant responsibilities and making recommendations regarding recharge and planned maintenance needs
- Supporting recruitment, performance management, sickness monitoring, and first-stage disciplinary processes where required
Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience in building maintenance and responsive repairs within a housing or property environment
- Strong working knowledge of Schedule of Rates and specification-based works
- Proven supervisory experience managing trade operatives and resources
- Ability to carry out inspections, produce specifications, estimates, and technical reports
- Good understanding of health & safety legislation and building regulations
- Relevant building trade qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent) or substantial supervisory experience within the building trade
