Job Description Maintenance Technician (Electrical) Temporary to Permanent Position London £29.45 per hour (Umbrella/CIS) | £43,000 - £45,000 Permanent Salary Full-Time | Temp to Permanent Opportunity An established and highly prestigious Higher Education organisation is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join its Estates and Maintenance team on a temp-to-perm basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified electrical professional looking for long-term career stability within a complex and varied building services environment. Working as part of a multi-skilled maintenance team, you will be responsible for delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a diverse estate, ensuring critical electrical infrastructure remains safe, compliant, and fully operational. Key Responsibilities Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on electrical plant, equipment and systems. Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to minimise downtime and service disruption. Complete maintenance activities in line with statutory regulations and industry best practice. Update maintenance records and job reports using CAFM systems. Support project works, equipment replacements and infrastructure upgrades. Assist with the preparation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS). Maintain high standards of health, safety and compliance. Provide excellent customer service to building users and stakeholders. Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and technical teams. Essential Requirements ~18th Edition City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an Electrical discipline. ~ Proven experience maintaining and repairing electrical building services systems. ~ Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills. ~ Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe systems of work. ~ Strong communication and customer service skills. ~ Ability to work independently and as part of a busy maintenance team. Technical Experience Candidates should have experience with a range of electrical systems, including: LV power distribution and switchgear. Single and three-phase electrical systems. Electrical testing and inspection. Lighting and emergency lighting systems. Fire alarm systems. CCTV and access control systems. UPS and standby power systems. Motors, inverters and control systems. BMS/BEMS systems. General building services plant and equipment.
