Venn Group’s specialist legal team is currently working with an established Local Authority in East Midlands who are recruiting for a Locum Childcare Paralegal to join their department.

Position: Locum Childcare Paralegal

Organisation: East Midlands based Local Authority

Duration: 6 months initial contract with the likelihood of extension thereafter

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week (5 days)

Working Arrangement: Hybrid working – office attendance every Tuesday and IT collection on the first day & return on end date

Hourly Rate: Up to £20 per hour Umbrella

This is a brilliant opportunity for a Paralegal to become part of a forward-thinking, proactive Local Authority. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within Local Government specialising in Childcare Law.

Duties may include:

  • Assisting 2 Solicitors in pre-proceedings on a variety of Childcare matters
  • Handling care applications to include c110 and c2 applications
  • Covering Private Law and Discharge of Care applications
  • Drafting consent orders and all other applications via the Courts portal system
  • Preparing bundles for Court and drafting Court orders and dealing with Private Law matters to include section 7 and section 37 cases
  • Drafting of case summaries, briefs to Counsel and letters of instruction to experts
  • Redacting of documents and carrying out disclosure
  • Making expert enquiries or obtaining Counsel for hearings and attending meetings and minute taking
  • Completing internal case lists for the progression of matters
