We are currently working with a South West based Local Authority who are looking for an Job Evaluation Consultant to join their team.
This role is designed for an experienced HR professional to help strengthen the way the organisation supports, engages, and manages its workforce. The position focusses on Job Evaluation specifically GLPC or NJC, alongside a strong commitment to providing high-quality HR advice, policy development, and casework management.
Job: HR Consultant - Job Evaluation & Policy
Duration: Permanent
Start date: ASAP
Salary: Β£47,500 per annum
Site presence: Mostly remote (Candidates should expect to attend the office on occasion, including in-person team meetings 2-3 times per year)
Role Details
- Lead and support on Job Evaluation processes, utilise the GLPC job evaluation scheme to evaluate roles, maintain pay equity, and support organizational restructuring
- Support organisational projects requiring HR, policy, or job evaluation expertise, particularly those shaping workforce culture and structural design
- Act as a key HR link with managers and key stakeholders to promote consistent, fair, and effective people practices
- Review and develop robust HR policies to ensure clarity, fairness, and ongoing compliance with employment legislation
- Provide guidance on complex HR casework, including conduct, performance, attendance, and employee relations
- Use feedback and workforce information to support decision-making and identify where policy or structural improvements are needed
Requirements
- Proven and significant local authority expertise is essential for this position
- Extensive hands-on experience and strong technical knowledge of Job Evaluation schemes, specifically GLPC (Greater London Provincial Council)
- Solid HR background encompassing job evaluation, policy development, and complex casework management
- CIPD qualification or equivalent professional experience is highly desirable
