Job Description
A London based University are looking for an Investigations Officer to join their team on an interim contract. You will provide expert technical advice and support for formal and informal casework including investigations, hearings and appeals related to student complaints, appeals and disciplinary matters
Job duties:
- Manage and lead investigations into student complaints, university appeals, and disciplinary cases, including complex cases involving sexual violence.
- Coordinate and support Schools and Departments in progressing investigations efficiently by reviewing documentation, gathering evidence, and producing timelines.
- Ensure procedural compliance by aligning investigations with university policies and legal standards, and acting as a liaison between central and departmental teams.
- Maintain quality and consistency through reviewing response letters, developing templates, and ensuring timely resolution of cases.
- Provide expert guidance at formal hearings and appeals, coach managers on procedures, and serve as a panel member when needed.
- Monitor trends and improve practice by delivering training, updating policies based on case law and sector developments, and producing reports for senior governance bodies.
Candidate profile:
- Formal investigation training
- Experience of working in a UK higher education institution demonstrating an understanding of the needs of students
- An understanding of dispute resolution processes (complaints, appeals) as they apply in higher education
- Proven experience of managing formal casework at all stages of complaint, appeal and disciplinary procedures
- Up to date knowledge of law as it applied to casework and University procedures.
- Experience of delivering and developing training
Job information:
- Hourly rate: £25.53 (£28.61 inclusive of holiday pay)
- Hours per week: 35
- Contract: 3 -6 months temporary
- Location: London
