Interim Senior Project Lawyer – Financial Services – Initial six months
Our client, a top city law firm is currently looking for a Senior Project Lawyer with strong experience gained within financial services to go on secondment with a key banking client of theirs. The opportunity is likely to start from around mid-January/early February.
The key purpose of the role will be to provide legal advice on English law matters, corporate governance, and support legal project management in relation to a large project across their UK and Europe operations.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Drive progress of the Legal, Entity Formation and Governance workstream
- Support other workstreams, particularly Regulatory and Risk as required
- Minimise legal cost by reducing reliance on external legal support, ensuring legal spend is within agreed budgets and parameters, and recommending areas to simplify where possible. Ensure legal requirements are met within agreed budget and timelines in a cost effective and efficient manner
- Liaise with internal customers including other project workstreams, project stakeholders and contributors
- Liaise with external advisers to the project (in particular external legal counsel but also accounting firm and other third parties as required) and assist in the management of these relationships.
- Provide support with respect to formation of new subsidiary including engaging company secretarial team, working with external legal advisers on entity structure/constitution and development of subsidiary governance/committees/ management structure
- Deal with day-to-day legal matters arising across workstreams and maintain close relationship with legal adviser project manager
- Identify legal risks arising from the project and provide legal advice on practical solutions to address such risks
Requirements:
- Must be an English-qualified (or common law jurisdiction) solicitor or barrister of not less than 6+ years’ standing with experience of dealing with a wide range of matters concerning banking law and practice in Europe as it affects a major international bank, such experience having been obtained with a major City of London law firm and/or financial institution
Our client is looking for someone to ideally be on site full time or at the very least, 3 days per week. The role would fall inside IR35 and would be offering a competitive daily rate.
