Job Description
Interim Senior Financial Reporting Manager
Based in London, hybrid
Length: 6 months initially
Inside IR35
Rate: £500 per day via an umbrella company
We are seeking a highly experienced finance professional to take on an interim Senior Financial Reporting Manager role within a local authority. The successful candidate will have at least three years’ recent experience operating at Deputy Chief Accountant level in a local government setting.
Key Responsibilities include:
· Lead the completion and external audit of the Council’s 2024/25 Statement of Accounts, ensuring full statutory compliance
· Initiate and oversee preparations for the 2025/26 year-end closure, including robust in-year reconciliation procedures
· Manage all aspects of the Collection Fund
· Drive automation and digitisation of statutory financial returns using the Council’s financial systems
· Ensure high standards of efficiency, accuracy, and audit readiness
Experience and knowledge required:
· Proven track record in end-to-end production of statutory accounts
· Deep understanding of local government finance legislation
· Strong leadership in complex financial environments
· Experience in financial reporting and audit processes
