Criminal Duty Solicitor / Criminal Advocate – Merseyside – Competitive Salary
Venn Group’s specialist legal recruitment team is recruiting for a Criminal Duty Solicitor / Criminal Advocate on behalf of a well-established and growing multi-service law firm in Merseyside. This permanent opportunity offers the chance to join a highly regarded criminal defence team committed to delivering access to justice and high-quality legal services.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Representing clients detained at police stations and providing advice throughout criminal proceedings
- Managing a varied caseload of criminal defence matters covering a broad range of offences
- Conducting advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court, including contested hearings and summary trials
- Providing practical and client-focused legal advice in publicly funded matters
- Working closely with colleagues to achieve positive outcomes for clients
About You
- Qualified Solicitor with at least 1 year's PQE in criminal law
- Accredited Police Station Representative
- Criminal Litigation Accreditation preferred, although candidates willing to obtain accreditation will be considered
- Strong advocacy, communication and client care skills
- Experience managing a busy caseload with minimal supervision
- Comfortable using case management systems and legal technology
- Passionate about criminal defence and publicly funded legal work
- Able to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Professional, pragmatic and team-oriented approach
