Overview

Our client, a leading legal 500 law firm based in the Midlands, are looking to grow. An opportunity is available for a qualified solicitor with a strong interest in contested probate matters to become part of a Dispute Resolution team. This role will involve managing your own caseload and providing expert advice across a broad range of issues including disputed wills, estate administration, trustee and executor challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle contested probate matters from start to finish, including advising trustees, executors, beneficiaries, claimants and defendants on disputes over wills, trusts, and estates
  • Conduct client-facing work requiring an empathetic, persuasive approach; develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents including witness statements, pleadings, and settlement agreements
  • Provide strategic advice to clients on the merits of claims, risks, and potential outcomes
  • Represent clients in mediations, settlement discussions, and court hearings
  • Ensure work meets professional standards and compliance requirements (e.g. regulatory, ethical, accounting, case-management)
  • Participate in business development where appropriate

What You’ll Need

  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in contested probate, demonstrating independent case ownership
  • Good working knowledge of Court of Protection proceedings and relevant trust law (e.g. Trusts of Land, Appointment of Trustees Act)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including sensitivity in dealing with difficult family situations, strong communication and team working abilities
