Multi-Skilled Engineer (Mobile)
We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineering Specialist to join our clients Estates team, supporting the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a busy healthcare environment.
This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for maintaining critical plant and equipment that supports patient care and essential services across the sites.
This is a mobile role, a vehicle is provided, however you must be able to commute to Canterbury in order to collect the vehicle on a daily basis. The remit then supports sites across Kent.
The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will undertake a broad range of planned and reactive maintenance activities across mechanical and electrical systems. You will be expected to diagnose faults, carry out repairs, oversee minor installation works, and contribute to compliance and improvement projects.
Day-to-day duties will include:
- Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs
- Fault finding and troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical systems
- Maintenance of HVAC systems, Air Handling Units (AHUs), boilers, pipework and Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Servicing emergency lighting and low-voltage electrical systems
- Supporting water hygiene compliance and monitoring activities
- Carrying out equipment upgrades, refurbishments and minor project works
- Ensuring all work complies with Health & Safety legislation, statutory requirements and internal procedures
- Using CAFM systems to record maintenance activities and asset information
- Liaising with clinical, operational and Estates teams to minimise disruption to services
- Participating in the emergency on-call and out-of-hours support service where required
Essential Qualifications & Criteria
To be considered for this position, applicants must demonstrate:
- HNC/HND or equivalent technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
- Significant experience working within a maintenance or building services environment
- Strong knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience of fault finding, diagnostics and repair of complex building services plant
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, solution-focused approach
- Flexibility to work across multiple sites when required
Desirable
- Experience within NHS, healthcare or critical facilities environments
- Knowledge of SFG20 maintenance standards and Health Technical Memorandums (HTMs)
- Experience with CAFM systems
- Knowledge of water hygiene, steam systems, air compressors and specialist healthcare plant
