The predicted salary is between 13 - 16 £ per hour.

We are currently supporting a small construction projects contractor to recruit a Mechanical Engineer to support with public sector projects.

Length of contract: 3 months ongoing

Hourly rate: DOE (Umbrella)

Location: Dorset

Hours: 37.5 per week

The key duties:

  • To undertake fault finding/diagnostics, test, installation and repair work associated with complex mechanical, electrical and electronic installations and equipment in an economic, efficient and safe manner.
  • Maintain and repair installations, plant and equipment to keep unplanned downtime to a minimum.
  • Provides technical advice to other Estates maintenance staff and contractors to ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures.
  • Maintain quality and performance standards to ensure that allocated work is completed effectively and efficiently.
  • Work from and understand detailed engineering drawings and specifications and to ensure that current regulations are followed at all times.
  • Participate in Estates service on-call rota, to ensure that emergencies and major problems occurring out of hours are attended and resolved.
  • To apply specialist skills in one or more of the following specialisms: LV Electrical Systems, HV Electrical Systems, Heating and Ventilation Systems, Decontamination, Safe Water Systems, Medical Gas Pipeline Systems (MGPS), Confined Spaces.

The successful candidate should have:

  • Extensive knowledge of the mechanical and/or plumbing systems in NHS premises.
  • In depth knowledge of all relevant legislation, technical guidance and relevant Health Technical Memorandum’s (HTM’s).
  • Significant experience working in a complex engineering/building environment.
