Locum Criminal Litigation with Prosecutions

South East England local authority
3 months initially, with a very high likelihood of extension
36 hours per week, 1 day per fortnight court or office attendance
Venn Group is working with a brilliant local authority in the South East in their search for a Criminal Litigation and Prosecutions Lawyer on a locum basis for an initial 3 month period.
Requirements
- A valid practising certificate in England as a Solicitor or Barrister
- Specialism within Criminal Litigation and prosecutions and evidence of practising this post-qualification
- Experience working within local authorities, or for a public sector organisation
Duties/Responsibilities
- Possess an expert knowledge and understanding of law and legislation relating to criminal litigation
- Provide advice on litigious matters surrounding prosecutions
- Advocate effectively on behalf of the Council before courts, tribunals and other bodies
- Train and mentor junior lawyers / paralegals as appropriate
