About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estates professional to join a large NHS organisation as a Senior Estates Operations Manager . Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will lead the operational delivery of Estates services across a multi-site healthcare estate, ensuring statutory compliance, safe operation of critical infrastructure, and effective maintenance delivery.
This role offers the opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary workforce, drive service improvements, and contribute to the strategic management and development of a complex healthcare estate.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the delivery of operational Estates services across multiple sites.
Ensure full compliance with statutory inspections, Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), and Statutory Preventative Maintenance (SPM) programmes.
Manage reactive maintenance services, ensuring timely resolution of issues and minimal disruption to clinical services.
Develop and monitor KPIs to improve maintenance performance and compliance assurance.
Lead and develop a multidisciplinary Estates workforce, promoting modern and efficient ways of working.
Support estates backlog management and help maintain estate condition standards.
Oversee contractor performance, permits to work, health and safety systems, and compliance reporting.
Contribute to capital works, infrastructure improvement projects, and sustainability initiatives.
Manage operational budgets and support cost improvement programmes.
Provide technical reports, compliance updates, and assurance data to senior leadership and governance groups.
Essential Experience
Significant senior Estates operational management experience within the NHS, healthcare, public sector, or a complex private-sector environment.
Extensive experience managing compliance, PPM/SPM programmes, and statutory maintenance activities.
Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams across multiple locations.
Strong budget management experience, including revenue and capital expenditure.
