Interim Senior Communications Officer
Location: East Anglia
Rate: Flexible depending on experience, Inside IR35
Working arrangement: 2β3 days per week onsite
Start: Early November
Contract: 3 months initially
We are recruiting for an experienced Interim Senior Communications Officer to support a local government organisation with engaging communications across key projects, services and organisational change initiatives.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing clear and accessible content across a range of channels, supporting stakeholder engagement and helping to communicate organisational priorities and achievements.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce engaging content for websites, social media, newsletters, press releases and briefing materials
- Deliver digital communications and marketing campaigns supporting organisational priorities, services and projects
- Manage website and social media content, monitoring performance and audience engagement
- Translate complex or sensitive information into clear communications for different audiences
- Support internal communications, employee engagement, public consultations, events and stakeholder engagement
- Develop case studies, success stories and campaign content to showcase service impact and community outcomes
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners and media contacts
- Monitor media coverage, social media activity and campaign performance, providing insights and recommendations
- Support media relations, reputation management and reactive communications where required
- Contribute to communications planning and organisational change programmes, including major transformation initiatives
Essential Experience
- Proven experience working in a communications, public relations or marketing role
- Strong digital communications and marketing experience, including social media management, website content and digital campaign delivery
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor content for different audiences
- Experience creating content across multiple channels, including web, social media, newsletters and media communications
- Experience supporting communications campaigns, stakeholder engagement and public-facing initiatives
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders
- Experience monitoring campaign performance and using data and insights to inform communications activity
- Proficiency in website content management systems, social media platforms and Microsoft Office
