An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join a forward-thinking Local Authority on an interim basis. This role will support a range of service areas across the organisation, providing high-quality financial management, business partnering, budgeting, forecasting and strategic financial advice to senior stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS), annual budget setting process and year-end financial reporting.
Contract Details
- Location: Remote with occasional onsite attendance
- Rate: Β£500 per day Umbrella (Inside IR35)
- Contract Length: 3-6 Months with potential extension

The Role
Working within the Financial Planning team, you will provide financial support, challenge and guidance to Service Managers and Senior Officers across a variety of service areas. You will be responsible for budget setting, financial forecasting, budget monitoring, year-end processes and statutory reporting, helping to ensure the organisation meets its financial objectives and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support delivery of the Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS), annual budget setting process and year-end outturn
- Provide financial advice, support and challenge to Service Managers and Senior Officers
- Produce accurate budget monitoring reports, forecasts and financial commentary for Senior Management and Members
- Lead on year-end accounting processes, working papers and statutory financial reporting requirements
- Review budget pressures, savings opportunities and financial risks, escalating concerns where appropriate
- Support the development of business cases, projects, service reviews and committee reports
- Undertake financial appraisals and evaluations of contractors
