An opportunity has arisen for an experienced people manager to lead the day-to-day operation of a busy administrative service, overseeing staff, workloads, performance, and customer service functions within a regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and develop a team, including workload allocation, performance management, training, and mentoring.
  • Ensure the efficient processing of notices, permits, appeals, and related casework in line with legislation and service standards.
  • Manage customer enquiries, complaints, FOI requests, and complex cases, providing advice and guidance where required.
  • Monitor service performance, budgets, policies, procedures, and reporting requirements to support continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders, elected members, partner organisations, and customers.
  • Support the delivery of a high-performing, customer-focused service while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and procedures.

Essential Criteria

  • Candidates with strong people management experience will be considered even if they do not have a background in parking enforcement.
  • Significant experience managing or supervising staff, including performance management and team development.
  • Experience managing workloads, service delivery, and performance targets within a customer-focused environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience handling customer complaints, escalations, and complex enquiries.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, problem-solving, and IT skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and lead a high-performing team.
  • Relevant management qualification (ILM, NVQ, or equivalent) or demonstrable management experience.
