Interim Category Lead
- Location: Milton Keynes (hybrid, one day per week onsite)
- Contract: Initially 6 months
- Hours: Full time
- Daily rate £198.30 + £23.93 holiday pay (£222.23 gross) PAYE or £252.69 via umbrella co.
Working closely with senior operational and corporate stakeholders, you will lead complex procurement projects, develop sourcing strategies, manage tender exercises, and ensure compliance with Public Contracts Regulations. The postholder will play a key role in delivering value for money, supplier performance improvements, and procurement savings across a diverse portfolio of goods and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end procurement and tendering activities in line with public sector procurement regulations.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that support organisational objectives and savings targets.
- Manage supplier relationships, contract negotiations, and performance reviews.
- Provide expert procurement advice to senior stakeholders across clinical and corporate services.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, service improvement, and supply chain efficiencies.
- Track and report procurement benefits, savings, and performance against agreed objectives.
- Support contract management processes and maintain accurate procurement records and contract registers.
Requirements
- Significant procurement experience within the public sector.
- Strong knowledge of Public Contracts Regulations and procurement best practice.
- Experience managing complex procurements, tenders, and contract negotiations.
