We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Service Manager – SEND to provide strategic and operational leadership across the local authority’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) service. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the local authority fulfils its statutory responsibilities under the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice and associated legislation, while driving improvements in service quality, performance, compliance and outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the SEND service
- Ensure the local authority meets its statutory duties under the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice and associated legislation
- Oversee the effective and timely delivery of EHCNAs, EHCPs and annual reviews
- Provide leadership across SEND mediation and tribunal processes
- Monitor service performance against statutory timescales, KPIs and quality standards
- Lead and deliver service improvement activity, ensuring sustainable improvements in performance, compliance and outcomes
- Develop effective relationships with education settings, health partners, social care and other agencies to promote integrated working
- Use performance information, data and service intelligence to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement
- Ensure effective governance, risk management and quality assurance arrangements are in place
About You
- Significant experience in a senior SEND leadership or management role within a local authority or comparable organisation
- Strong knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice
- Extensive experience of EHCNA and EHCP processes, including annual reviews
- A proven track record of improving SEND service performance, compliance and outcomes
