An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Office Coordinator to join a maintained school within an Alternative Provision / Pupil Referral Unit setting. This is a full-time, immediate-start opportunity, initially on a temporary basis with the potential to become permanent.

You will play a key role in the day-to-day coordination of the school office, with particular responsibility for SIMS administration, pupil data, attendance, statutory reporting and administrative processes. The successful candidate will ideally have strong previous experience using SIMS within a UK school environment and be confident working with sensitive and confidential pupil information.

  • Hourly rate: Β£19 - Β£21 per hour including Holiday contributions

Key Responsibilities:

SIMS Administration & Pupil Data

  • Support the day-to-day administration and effective management of the school's SIMS system.
  • Maintain accurate pupil records including admissions, leavers, contact information and UPN/ULN data.
  • Maintain records relating to vulnerable learners, including LAC, CME and pupils with EHCPs.
  • Support the management of SIMS user accounts, permissions, profiles and access where required.
  • Ensure pupil and school data remains accurate, confidential and compliant.

Attendance, Reporting & Statutory Returns

  • Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure appropriate attendance and exclusion coding within SIMS.
  • Support the preparation and checking of statutory returns including School Census, AP Census and Workforce Census.
  • Identify and resolve data errors ahead of statutory submissions.
  • Produce accurate reports and data for senior leadership, governors and Local Authority requirements.
  • Support the tracking and reporting of pupil progress, attendance and behaviour.

Office Coordination & Administration

  • Coordinate day-to-day school office processes and provide effective administrative support.
  • Support pupil admissions, inductions and leavers within a busy Alternative Provision environment.
  • Review and improve administrative processes to ensure the school office operates efficiently.
  • Handle confidential pupil, parent and staff information professionally and sensitively.
  • Work closely with school leadership, HR and other internal stakeholders.
  • Support administrative requirements across different school sites where necessary.

SIMS Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Act as a knowledgeable point of contact for colleagues requiring assistance with SIMS.
  • Help troubleshoot system issues and liaise with external SIMS support providers where required.
  • Support and coach colleagues on the effective use of SIMS.
  • Assist with creating clear processes and guidance for administrative staff.
  • Provide additional support with assessments, examinations and timetabling where required.

Candidate Profile:

  • Previous Office Coordinator, School Administrator, SIMS Administrator, School Business Coordinator or similar experience.
  • Strong experience using SIMS within a UK educational setting.
  • Experience within a maintained school, Alternative Provision, PRU or SEN environment would be highly advantageous.
  • Good understanding of pupil data, attendance, admissions and school administrative processes.
  • Knowledge of School Census and statutory reporting requirements would be highly desirable.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Comfortable working with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Resilient, adaptable and able to work effectively within a fast-paced school environment.
  • Able to hit the ground running with minimal system onboarding.
  • Due to the immediate nature of the requirement, an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is required.
