Venn Group’s specialist Local Government recruitment team is recruiting a Head of Education for a London Borough. This is a senior interim leadership role focused on school organisation, place planning, public consultation and stakeholder engagement.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing consultation activity relating to school expansions, reductions, amalgamations, new provision and changes to existing provision
  • Developing and analysing data to support education planning and decision-making
  • Building strong relationships with school leaders, communities and key stakeholders
  • Managing sensitive and emotionally charged consultation processes with professionalism and credibility
  • Providing expert advice on relevant education legislation, statutory guidance and school sufficiency requirements
  • Contributing to the Council's strategic approach to school financial sustainability, resource management and funding
  • Working independently and taking ownership of key projects with limited management oversight
  • Navigating complex and politically sensitive environments

About you:

  • Experience in a local authority, academy trust or another education setting
  • Prior experience in school place planning and/or school organisation
  • Demonstrate an understanding of relevant guidance and the ability to engage effectively with SEND stakeholders
  • Manage a wide range of stakeholders and community interests
  • Work effectively within politically sensitive or contentious environments
  • Communicate complex issues clearly

  • Day Rate: £600 p/d umbrella
  • Location: London / Hybrid
