Commissioning Manager – Older People

Based in London, hybrid working

We are working with a London Local Authority who are looking to appoint an interim Commissioning Manager to support across Domiciliary Care, Reablement and the Extra Care Contract.

Key Responsibilities:

You will lead on a number of important areas:

  • Domiciliary Care - undertake commercially sensitive re-negotiations of the current contract, review the current performance management framework for the contract and ensure measures are put in place to result in effective performance management and begin developing future commissioning intentions and provider engagement activities for a future commissioning model
  • Re-ablement – develop commissioning intentions, looking at best practice, review the contract and design performance monitoring for the future – time, cost, quality
  • Extra care - review the current performance management framework for the contract and ensure measures are put in place to result in effective performance management
  • Care Homes – develop a tactical negotiation strategy to reduce costs/fees for existing and new placements

You will work closely with providers, colleagues and stakeholders to establish clear expectations, improve performance and ensure commissioned services deliver the best possible outcomes for older people.

Key Requirements:

  • Strong commissioning and contract management experience, ideally within adult social care or services for older people
  • Confident working with providers, analysing performance and using evidence and best practice to inform commissioning decisions
  • Improvement-focused approach and be comfortable taking services from a position of limited performance management to one with robust monitoring and demonstrable outcomes
