Hours: 35-40 Hours Per Week
Contract: Temporary / Ongoing Contract
Rate: £21.00 - £25.00 per hour Umbrella
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Caretaker to join a well-respected organisation in South East London. This role will be responsible for ensuring the site remains safe, secure, clean, and fully operational, providing a welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and service users.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the premises, supporting building operations, carrying out basic maintenance tasks, and liaising with contractors to ensure the smooth running of the site.
Caretaker – Key Responsibilities
Open and secure the building daily, ensuring the premises remain safe and secure at all times
Carry out routine inspections of the site and report any maintenance issues or health & safety concerns
Undertake basic reactive maintenance and minor repairs including painting, plumbing, carpentry, and general handyman duties
Coordinate and monitor contractors attending the site, ensuring works are completed safely and to the required standard
Conduct regular health & safety checks, including fire alarm testing, emergency lighting checks, and maintaining compliance records
Ensure internal and external areas are clean, tidy, and presentable
Set up rooms and facilities for meetings, events, and operational requirements
Support waste management and recycling processes across the site
Monitor building systems and report any faults or service interruptions
Respond promptly to emergencies and urgent maintenance issues
Maintain stock levels of cleaning and maintenance supplies
Liaise effectively with staff, visitors, and external stakeholders to ensure excellent service delivery
Ideal Candidate Profile
Previous experience working as a Caretaker, Premises Assistant, Site Officer, Facilities Assistant, School Caretaker, or Maintenance Operative
Experience carrying out minor repairs and general building maintenance
