An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Regulatory & Prosecutions Lawyer to join a reputable Local Authority on an interim basis. This position is offered for an initial term of 3 months, with any extensions to be agreed thereafter. This is a full time position, to start as soon as possible. Weekly court attendance in South Wales is required.
The successful candidate will be an experienced Solicitor or Barrister with prior experience working within Local Governments. This role involves handling a varied caseload with a focus on prosecutions, regulatory and enforcement work, to include public protection, housing, planning control and trading standards matters. Knowledge of general civil litigation law is desirable but not essential.
Duties may include:
- Focus on general prosecutions, regulatory and enforcement matters, including housing (possessions and injunctions), ASB, homelessness and disrepair claims, unauthorised encampments
- Drafting relevant documents both in regulatory and criminal legal proceedings
- Advising on requests for information
- Drafting summons, indictments, case summaries and disclosure requests
- Authorising and presenting cases before the Magistrates and County Courts
An hourly rate of up to £55 per hour Umbrella is offered for this position dependent on experience.
