An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Adult Social Care Lawyer to join a Local Authority in the South West on an interim basis, to start as soon as possible.
The ideal candidate would be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with previous Local Authority experience. You will be handling a mixed general caseload, including DOLs, CoP, S21As, etc., and conducting advocacy.
Duties may include the following:
- Holding day to day personal accountability for a case load of files
- Advising upon law relating to separation, contact assessments and threshold and assist social workers to take appropriate safeguarding steps
- Handling the pre-proceedings and care proceedings including the process and drafting
- Providing advice under legislation such as the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act 1983, charging processes, or conducting proceedings in the Court of Protection involving S.21Aβs or Deputyship
- Advising upon a strong understanding of deprivation of liberty for adults including use of inherent jurisdiction and COP
An hourly rate of up to Β£60 via umbrella is offered for this position. This role offers the opportunity for remote working, however a hybrid working basis with attendance once every 1-2 weeks would be preferred.
