Overview

The Venkat Trust is seeking a finance professional to assist with its annual accounts.

We are a small, established education charity operating in Tamil Nadu, India.

All UK-based costs are covered by trustees; funds raised go directly to our work in India.

In the UK, the Trust is run by volunteer trustees, and the books are kept up to date.

We are looking for someone who is committed to our mission and able to join our small, diverse team remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Complete accounts for submission to the Charity Commission, due 31 January 2027 (and thereafter).
  • Act as Independent Examiner for the charity's accounts.
  • Work with data from a reconciled monthly Excel system to compile annual figures.
  • Prepare annual totals for categories such as individuals, corporate, restricted and unrestricted funds, legacies, etc.
  • Record annual outgoings in India, including payments to sponsored children, university fees, salaries, and other overheads.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in charity accounting and performing Independent Examiner duties.
  • Familiarity with Charity Commission requirements and UK charity reporting.
  • Proficiency with Excel and ability to work with a custom accounting system.
  • Strong attention to detail, integrity, and ability to work remotely with a volunteer-led board.
