Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a UX Designer for an initial 6 week contract on a rate of Β£550/day (Inside IR35). This role can be based anywhere in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Digital Delivery team to ensure tasks and responsibilities allocated within projects are delivered accurately, meet user requirements and business goals and ensure the ongoing improvement of our digital platforms.
  • Support the Digital Delivery Product Owners in a range of projects, which may include both B2C and B2B digital products and campaigns, to ensure user journeys and landing pages are fully optimised.
  • Designing and carrying out user research and testing using a wide range of techniques, ensuring we build digital products that fit the needs of our users as defined in our B2B and B2C Behavioural Archetypes.
  • Producing speedy, concise UX reports/findings based on observation and analysis, with recommendations for improvements to layout and functionality to enhance user experience and help users to achieve their goals.
  • Producing sketches, wireframes, prototypes and user journeys to inform the design of our digital products, based on user needs and business requirements.
  • Creating solutions in line with WCAG standards and making recommendations to ensure that our digital output is accessible and usable to all.
  • Promoting UX, accessibility and user focussed approach to design solutions across Agile delivery teams.

You will not be required to carry out high fidelity UI Design tasks as we have a separate Design team.

Essential Skills

  • Degree educated or relevant experience in UX Design.
  • Excellent understanding of UX Design techniques including sketching, prototyping, user research and testing, user journey mapping and digital development.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate with in-house designers, Front End and systems developers, and to translate complex ideas for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Self-starter and self-learner, keen to acquire and share knowledge and skills, and stay up to date with the latest techniques and thinking in UX.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience of working with quantitative and qualitative tools to evaluate the success of digital products, and ability to make recommendations based on that analysis.
  • Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • Knowledge of Design Systems, Agile, Jira, & Figma.

Desirable Skills

  • Understanding of HTML, CSS and basic web development.
