Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Northern Ireland, is currently looking to recruit a Transport Manager for an initial 5 month contract on a rate of £23.60/hour PAYE. This role will be based in Gilford, Co Down.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead on designated projects on behalf of the Assistant Director across the organisation.
  • Maintain staffing levels and manage them accordingly.
  • Ensure the Transport service supports the delivery of the organisation’s corporate objectives and achievement of its strategic goals, particularly supporting the organisation’s clinical, managerial governance and performance systems.
  • Develop and ensure delivery of a set of key objectives and targets for the Transport service.
  • Manage and provide strategic leadership of the Transport service within the organisation.
  • Undertake any other duties as required.

Essential Skills:

  • A University degree or relevant professional qualification and at least 1 year in a management role OR at least 3 years in a management role AND a Certificate of Professional Competence for Transport Managers in Road Haulage and Passenger Transport AND 1 year of direct management of staff.
  • Delivered against challenging performance objectives for a minimum of 2 years, meeting a range of key targets and making significant improvements.
  • Worked with a diverse range of stakeholders, internal and external to the organisation, to achieve successful outcomes for a minimum of 1 year.
  • A proven track record of people management, governance and organisational skills for a minimum of 1 year.
  • Hold a current full driving licence valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment (this criteria will be waived for applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the organisation).
  • Strategic context for Transport Services Delivery.
  • Legislative standards relating to delivery of Transport Services.
  • Budgetary control including performance management.
  • Specification of Freight and Passenger Vehicles.
  • Working knowledge of the decision-making processes and business planning arrangements for the HPSS/NHS or equivalent large organisation.
  • Experience working with people with a disability.
