Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation with offices across Scotland, is currently looking to recruit an HR Assistant for a contract until 20th November 2026 on a salary between £31,619 - £36,561/annum.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the maintenance and updating of the establishment plan and employee records on HR Agresso and administering the range of employee events to ensure clear audit trail and record of change and events and timely administration of pay affecting changes.
  • Support attendance management by monitoring absence triggers ensuring managers are aware of their roles and responsibilities in addressing attendance issues.
  • Support the maintenance of an up-to-date Job Description and Job Evaluation database through secretariat to the Job Evaluation panels, ensuring appropriate version control and Job Evaluation records and panel decisions are maintained with a clear audit trail of evaluation decisions.
  • Provide support for recruitment campaigns, coordinating assessment centres and participating in selection activities such as interviews or group exercises.
  • Provide support for induction events ensuring content is up to date and relevant for attendees.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the HR & OD service offer.
  • Work with HR Assistant colleagues to ensure consistency in service delivery and our approach to coaching, guiding and advising managers across the organisation in interpreting HR Policies and development of good practice.
  • Actively utilise HR Management Information (MI) to develop solutions and approaches with support from the HR Business Partner.
  • Raise ideas for improvement and participate in projects / working groups.

Essential Skills:

  • Qualified to SCQF Level 6 (SVQ3/NC).
  • Clear evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
  • Experience in the production and presentation of metrics.
  • Experience of interpreting and applying knowledge of employment legislation, regulations and HR policies.
  • Experience of managing an HR Information System.
  • Knowledge of HR processes and practices to administer the contract of employment.
  • Ability to provide accurate Management Information (MI) to support organisational / operational development and decision making.
  • Good attention to detail for data integrity and employee contractual administration.
  • Good analytical skills to identify data trends including the quality of data.
  • Good administrative skills gained within a highly customer-focused environment.
  • Effective coaching skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Knowledge of HR policies, processes and employment legislation.
  • Good IT skills - in Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Builds good working relationships through effective written and verbal communication.
  • Approachable and able to build rapport quickly.
  • Displays tact, professionalism, flexibility and a high level of customer service.
  • Good appreciation for confidentiality and discretion within an environment of sensitive personal data and information.

Desirable Skills:

  • Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) qualified or working towards.
  • Previous experience of operating in an HR Shared Service Environment.
  • Experience of handling recruitment, pension, and contract related queries.
  • Experience of working with Agresso Business World HR System.
  • Experience of supporting organisational change.
  • Previous experience of establishing, and working to, Service Level Agreements.
  • Previous experience of supporting a diverse HR environment.
  • Previous experience of successfully delivering HR projects.
  • Previous experience of working in a unionised environment.
  • Experience of reviewing and developing policies and procedures.
