Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Test Manager for an initial 6 month contract with potential to extend on a rate of £496/day (Outside IR35). This role will be remote working for the majority, however, must be willing to come to the Glasgow office as and when required, this may include to collect equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Work with a small team of Software Developer in Test specialists ensuring test plans are understood, integrated, delivered and automated where possible.
- Build and maintain testing artefacts, looking ahead for future opportunities or blockers, and ensuring decisions by teams align with the strategy.
- Anticipate and mitigate against project challenges or risks.
- Work with and support third parties in providing testing services.
- Work with the wider community to identify appropriate test tooling and frameworks for in-house applications and help in assuring releases for the team.
Technology knowledge:
- Good experience of Best Practice test approaches, Test Automation in CI/CD pipelines (specifically, GitHub Actions), Selenium WebDriver test automation, Java and JavaScript and BDD test tooling (Gherkin/Cucumber).
- AWS environment experience.
- Mariadb/Oracle/MySQL/AWS Aurora experience (2 or more).
- 2+ years (within the past 5 years) of MySQL scripting.
- Able to make decisions characterised by managed levels of risk and complexity and recommend remediation as risk and complexity increase.
- Capable of assessing overall test coverage, identifying gaps and assessing the overall risk position.
- Ability to assess a set of project deliverables, identify test cases and direct Software Developers in Test on priority of identified cases.
- Ability to document and articulate testing strategy and approach, and embed it within the test discipline.
- Good experience of Infrastructure testing tooling (Kubernetes, Terraform), Automating OAT (for Web applications and RESTful APIs), Automating Acceptance Testing (for Web applications) using Playwright, Automating Regression Testing (for Web applications) and Non-Functional Testing (performance, load).
