Overview
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh/Glasgow, is recruiting a Financial Planning and Analysis Manager for an initial 4-month contract on £383.20/day (Inside IR35). This role is hybrid (home/office).
Responsibilities
- Lead the production of monthly management accounts and investigate/report on significant budget variances, advising on remedial action and monitoring implementation; support Directors in financial management of their functions and projects.
- Lead on the financial planning cycle, modelling and forecasting.
- Manage the base-line budget position, ensuring funding requirements are accurately recorded, obtaining sign-off as appropriate.
- Support senior managers and budget holders with specialist advice on key financial management issues including capital accounting, VAT compliance, budgeting and forecast outturns, financial planning and risk management.
- Collaborate with the Senior Accounting Manager and team to produce timely monthly financial and management reports with supporting analysis.
- Provide financial analysis and modelling to assist Head of Finance and Director of Finance in Medium Term Financial Planning and Fiscal Sustainability Projects; act as a key contact for project workstreams.
- Drive improvements in finance processes, automation and reporting capability.
Qualifications
- Membership of a CCAB professional body (or equivalent).
- Experience of all aspects of management accounting (planning, monitoring, analysis and reporting).
- Experience of capital accounting and preparation of accurate annual financial statements with strong IFRS knowledge.
- Detailed understanding of a financial accounting system.
- Ability to analyse and evaluate information, identify issues and provide effective solutions to complex problems.
- People management and leadership skills with the ability to build relationships and influence others to achieve results.
- Ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
- Experience in a senior finance role within the public sector providing professional advice.
