Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Governance and Compliance Officer on a permanent basis on a salary of £36,799-£41,418/annum.
- Work with the Personal Assistant to the Secretary General and senior colleagues to plan the annual governance calendar, monitor actions, and support delivery.
- Take a lead role in the induction, continuous training, monitoring and development of all trustees, board and committee members, including researching best practice to ensure they can perform their roles effectively.
- Improve governance and compliance processes, including maintaining policy and workflow resources to keep practice up to date and effective.
- Work with the Chief Operating Officer to support the development of data and record management strategy, policy and practice, enhance data security policy and practice and support colleagues and congregations in understanding and meeting data protection and record retention requirements under GDPR.
- Serve as the initial contact for congregations on compliance matters, signposting enquirers to guidance and helping to demystify compliance for clergy and volunteers in congregations and developing guidance and templates for congregations.
- Maintain an awareness of changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment that may impact upon your responsibilities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to help create a warm, pleasant, and hospitable working environment.
- Maintain awareness of, and comply with, fire and health and safety regulations.
- Experience of developing accurate electronic record systems for retrieval, analysis, and sharing.
- Ability to understand complex ideas quickly and produce high-quality reports and analysis.
- Knowledge of external statutory and regulatory frameworks and the importance of compliance and record management.
- Excellent project management skills and confidence in leading arrangements for high-profile meetings.
- Well-developed governance writing skills, including the ability to draft papers.
- Flexible and adaptable with a positive attitude.
