Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Dalmarnock, is currently looking to recruit a Clerical Assistant for an initial 12 month contract on a rate of £16.69/hour PAYE – working 35 hours per week. This role will be based onsite in Dalmarnock, Glasgow.

Responsibilities:

  • Sort and distribute internal despatches and faxes to Divisions/Departments in a timely manner, including the use of Electronic Document Records Management Software and appropriate correspondence tracking software.
  • Providing customer service at a public counter, issuing mail, responding to general enquiries and offering appropriate advice both in person and via telephone/email.
  • Carry out mail room duties in respect of external mail items. Operation of various postal equipment.
  • Sort, distribute and where required open, record and forward incoming mail.
  • Contribute to the accurate secure recording, distribution and tracking of cash/valuables and charitable donations within the organisation in keeping with established guidelines.
  • Carry out a range of administrative functions including checking of stock levels and preparing of stationery requisitions for authorisation by appropriate signatory, photocopying, invoice processing and associated record keeping.
  • May be required to undertake additional duties that are consistent with the level and grading of the role.

Essential Skills:

  • Educated to SQA Standard Grade level (or equivalent) OR Where no formal qualifications exist an extended period of relevant clerical experience.
  • Ideally Mailroom or else Logistics or Retail background.
  • Customer Service.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong time management – ability to work to deadlines.
  • MS Office (Word and Excel).
  • Experienced in roles requiring standing and walking for periods with some manual handling (including heavy lifting).
