A public sector organisation in Falkirk is currently looking to recruit a Catering Manager for an initial 6-month contract with potential to extend on a rate of £18.96/hour PAYE. This role will be across various sites around Falkirk.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the running of the Catering Department and ensure all events are set up in accordance with the booker’s requirements.
  • Ensure the catering department is fully resourced including staffing, and all processes and procedures are adhered to by staff.
  • Manage the Catering department and catering rotas.
  • Liaise with department heads to ensure rooms are set in accordance with booker’s requirements.
  • Ensure Health and Safety regulations are monitored and maintained by the team to provide a safe and clean working environment and compliance with industry standards.
  • Ensure the department is run in accordance with the conditions of the premises license.
  • Manage stock control and place orders as necessary.
  • Implement and monitor catering cleaning standards.
  • Plan and organise your own workload.
  • Contribute to the development of plans and strategies.
  • Deal with conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • Manage a budget.
  • Communicate well with colleagues and others.
  • Ensure adherence to regulations or the organisation’s policy.
  • Handle and process information.
  • Work safely and follow procedures.
  • Take care of their own health and safety and that of others whilst at work.
  • Comply with the Organisation's Health and Safety Policy.
  • Help create and promote a positive health and safety culture.

Essential Skills:

  • Basic numeracy and literacy.
  • HND in Hospitality Management or equivalent.
  • Organisational skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Significant experience is required.
  • Experience working as part of a team.
  • Ability to organise competing demands.
  • Experience of relevant legislation.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Previous Catering experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Experience of working in events and/or hospitality catering.

Desirable Skills:

  • Certificate in Food Hygiene or equivalent.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Experience in current Health and Safety regulations and procedures.
  • Experience using MS Office packages.
  • Experience in managing a budget.
  • Experience managing a team.
