A public sector organisation in Ayr is currently looking to recruit a Senior Developer for an initial 6 month contract on a rate of £500/day (Outside IR35). This role will be remote working.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide business intelligence skills and expertise to build and develop data and intelligence products, reflecting the national, regional and local data reporting requirements. Monitoring, analysing, reviewing and reporting on data quality, as required.
  • Provide technical support and expertise in the delivery of the organisation’s information resources, creating and linking data systems and sources, aligning with the organisation’s need for intelligence and data to aid decision making.
  • Provide data development advice and support across a range of project areas and activities to ensure robust, reliable data sets are created in a joined-up manner and offer opportunities for intelligence-based decision making.
  • Support the development of standard data reporting to ensure an understanding is gained across the organisation on areas where performance levels require improvement interventions.
  • Develop and support the interfaces, required by 3rd Party systems to pass data to, and obtain data from Digital Services Systems.
  • Ensure effective collaboration across teams, whether these are internal to the department, within the wider organisation or out with the organisation.
  • Work in conjunction with their own team members, both within development and also the wider digital team, Performance Team, Planning Team, PMO, Operational Managers, and colleagues to build appropriate intelligence systems and information products to facilitate forward planning, scrutinise and highlight performance, and provide data reporting and interpretation support to a range of fora.
  • Ensure that full and explicit technical documentation for all the software products are created and maintained in line with industry standards, agreed local protocols and guidelines and ITIL best practices including risk management.

Essential Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in an IT development subject or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience in a development discipline.
  • Advanced and extensive knowledge proven knowledge of server-based database systems (e.g. MSSQL Server) and the database development cycle.
  • Ability to demonstrate and communicate a practical and theoretical understanding of data development and interpretation. Highly proficient in data development with excellent digital and statistical skills.
  • Significant experience of working in the other public sector or relevant organisations within a relevant senior role associated with information management, equivalent to Post graduate diploma level.
  • Detailed knowledge of data development sets and an in-depth specialist knowledge and experience of application of data development, information standards, and policies.
  • Strong awareness of current national health agendas including government priorities, plans, and legislation.
  • Knowledge of practical application of dev packages in support of the key result areas including knowledge of statistical and geographical software packages.
  • Ability and demonstrable experience in the drafting and presentation of papers, reports and related correspondence for the Board, associated Governance groups, Directors, and senior managers.
  • Ability to communicate complex analysis and insights to a variety of audiences. Able to represent the organisation and present local data and intelligence to a range of national meetings.
  • A pragmatic and flexible approach to problem solving.
  • Adept at managing a diverse workload with competing priorities. Good time management skills with the ability to adapt quickly to new health data requirements.
  • The ability to lead on bespoke projects and engage with a range of colleagues to achieve shared goals and targets.
  • Developed awareness of the political sensitivity of information and ability, and mental agility, to work through issues and take cognisance of the impact of the presentation of data and intelligence.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication and influencing skills (both written and oral) and an ability to establish productive working relationships.
  • Driving Licence.
