Job Description
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Assistant Librarian for a 5 month contract on a rate of £17.76/hour (PAYE). This role is hybrid with up to 2 days a week onsite.
Responsibilities:
- Providing and maintaining an excellent legal research and enquiry facility
- Producing current awareness bulletins and updates
- Ensuring that collections are organised and managed effectively by cataloguing materials to in-house cataloguing standards, using the Koha library management system
- Assisting the librarians with IT Product Training and User Education, including administration of training events
- Editing and contributing to the SGLD knowledge management SharePoint platform
- Processing of stock including: managing incoming mail; book orders; filing loose-leaf publications; circulation & shelving of loans.
Essential Skills:
- An approved degree in librarianship or information science (or postgraduate qualification in same)
- Experience of working in a library or information service environment (experience of legal library work would be advantageous)
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with ability to balance competing priorities
- Good interpersonal, networking and team-working skills with the ability to engage confidently with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels
