A public sector organisation in Paisley is currently looking to recruit a Skilled Road Worker with a valid Class 2 License for work that will run until October, although there is a possibility this may be extended. The rate of pay will be £15.66 per hour PAYE – working 37 hours per week (Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 4.30pm and 3.30pm finish on a Friday). Must have a Disclosure Scotland dated within 12 months or be prepared to apply for one.

Responsibilities:

  • Working in all aspects of road maintenance and construction
  • Utilising vehicles, tools, plant and materials to ensure that all tasks and activities are completed effectively
  • Winter maintenance operations
  • Driving class 2 vehicles
  • Liaise with service areas within the authority as well as external organisations and agencies to ensure that tasks are completed efficiently

Essential Skills:

  • Must have a valid Class 2 driving licence
  • You must have experience of working within roadworks, civil engineering or within the construction industry
  • Have a good awareness of health and safety
  • Good team player with self‑motivational skills

Desirable:

  • An SVQ level 2 in roads maintenance
  • Experience in carriageway resurfacing
