Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Secretary (Project Manager) for a contract until 30th September 2025 on a rate of c.£450/day (Inside IR35). This role will be hybrid based.
Responsibilities:
– Operational Set-Up and Stabilisation – This includes assessing current systems and workflows, identifying any gaps, and ensuring that key infrastructure such as offices, IT systems, document management platforms, and the hearings framework are fully functional and fit for purpose.
– Leadership of the Secretariat Team – The successful candidate will provide daily oversight of the developing Secretariat, including direct line management of deputy secretary and other team members. They will be responsible for establishing clear roles, workflows, and priorities to create a high-performing, cohesive support function.
– Support to the Colleagues – The role will work closely with senior leaders to align operations with strategic direction. The Secretary will provide timely and practical support to inform decision-making, particularly around meetings planning, stakeholder engagement, and communications.
– Budget and Resource Management – The Secretary will oversee the tracking, forecasting, and reporting of the budget, ensuring that financial decisions are justified, well-documented, and compliant with financial controls and procurement policy.
– Delivery of Hearings Infrastructure and Planning – This will involve leading the full logistical planning and delivery of meetings, ensuring venue readiness, technology integration, publication of schedules, and coordination of support.
– Financial management experience, with an understanding of policies and procedures in areas such as spending controls, procurement.
– Excellent operational delivery skills, including the skills to deliver continuous improvement of service in demanding and changing circumstances
