Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Research Officer for a contract until 29th May 2026 with the possibility of extension on a rate of Β£285.60/day (Inside IR35).

Responsibilities:

– This role will involve preparing and running in-depth qualitative interviews and providing analysis of gathered data.

– The post holder will be responsible for the design and implementation of interview schedules, in consultation with the Principal Research Officer and Senior Research Officer.

– The role will also involve writing project reports, summarising the work undertaken and assimilating key literature on the topic. Additional ad hoc research support duties may also be required.

– The post holder will be responsible for identifying candidates for interview, as well as organising suitable meeting times. Support will be provided by colleagues.

– In-house support will be available, but the successful candidate will be expected to be able to make appropriate analytical judgments independently. As a result, a solid understanding of qualitative research methods is required.

– The role will require presenting findings to senior office holders, both through written briefings and oral presentations.

Essential Skills:

– Undergraduate degree, or equivalent experience.

– Research based postgraduate qualification or equivalent research experience.

– Evidence of experience in the design, implementation and analysis of qualitative research projects.

Desirable Skills:

– 3+ years’ research experience or a postgraduate degree in a social research discipline.

– Experience interviewing high-status respondents.
