Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in with offices across Scotland, is currently looking to recruit a Communications and Marketing Executive for a contract until 31st March 2026 on a rate between Β£25.96- Β£30.22/hour (inside IR35).

Responsibilities

  • Work within and contribute to shaping a marketing and communications workplan in support of one of four key business priorities.
  • Provide expertise in one or more communications and marketing specialisms (e.g. event management, colleague engagement, social media, digital marketing, media management, stakeholder engagement, crisis communications).
  • Develop all communications and marketing activity to ensure customer insights and market intelligence inform our approach to delivery.
  • Act as a customer champion to ensure communications and marketing processes and activities are effectively integrated into product and service offering across all areas of the business.
  • Support and coach key internal contacts in communications practice, building capability and offering constructive challenge, advice and guidance to support communications and marketing goals.
  • Work with the business to ensure that all communications and marketing processes and procedures are followed.
  • Ensure all projects have the appropriate level of visibility and sign off.
  • Identify areas of potential reputational risk for SDS and mitigate through effective action.
  • Evaluate activity and ensure that findings are utilised to refine and boost effectiveness of future campaign planning and execution.
  • Manage and monitor all financial and other resources associated with areas of responsibility.
  • Manage the development, delivery and measurement of high-profile communications and marketing projects, channels and campaigns that meet outcomes and targets.
  • Actively pursue new communications and marketing opportunities on an ongoing basis.
  • Manage and oversee the work of suppliers to ensure delivery within service level agreements.
  • Manage development of audience-relevant content for use within channels, including sourcing, creating and developing persuasive case studies and other content.
  • Establish and maintain close and productive relationships with key internal and external contacts, ensuring that reputation is effectively managed and maximised through effective collaboration.
  • Lead and manage internal and external multidisciplinary teams to support the delivery of effective communications and marketing campaigns and programmes, ensuring team members are aware of their responsibilities and adhere to stated deadlines and protocols.
  • Cultivate productive relationships with key individuals both internally and externally to support effective communication.
  • Significant experience in developing and delivering high profile communications and/or marketing projects, channels and campaigns.
  • Experience of leading multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Experienced in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with an ability to persuade and influence at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Educated to SCQF 9 or qualified to in a relevant discipline, or able to demonstrate comparable work experience.
  • Subject matter expertise in at least one communications and marketing discipline (external communications, internal communications, marketing and associated disciplines).
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with an ability to prioritise conflicting workload to strict deadlines – with a proactive approach to work.
  • Understanding of communications and marketing channels and how to deploy them effectively to meet business objectives.
  • Supplier and agency management.
  • Budget tracking.
  • Able to prioritise and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Well versed in Microsoft packages.
  • Innovative and motivated individual, able to drive forward implementation of strategic communications and marketing plans.
  • Creative, with the personality and determination to work with other individuals and teams to secure the implementation of objectives.
  • The ability to enthuse others with energy, initiative, creativity and imagination.
  • Able to take on varied workload whilst maintaining effectiveness and a positive demeanour.
  • Willingness to set high standards and maintain them.
  • Excellent attention to detail (including proof reading).
  • First class communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong self-motivation and a high degree of self-management.
  • A highly effective team player who is consultative and collaborative by nature but assertive and driven by results, with proven experience of working effectively within a team.
  • Formal membership of industry recognised bodies.
  • Highly developed networking capabilities.
  • Able to adopt a facilitation role with colleagues when necessary.
