An established heavy engineering business in the Knottingley area is looking to add an experienced Manual Machinist to its specialist workshop team.
This is a great opportunity for a Manual Machinist who enjoys traditional machining, varied engineering work and working with established machinery, rather than repetitive production.
The role:
- Setting and operating manual lathes and milling machines
- Carrying out general manual machining and engineering work
- Machining valve plugs and similar components
- Turning components typically around 200–300mm diameter
- Independently setting jobs and producing accurate components
- Working alongside highly experienced machinists across a varied workshop

What we're looking for:
- Previous experience as a Manual Machinist
- Good all‑round traditional machining knowledge
- Ability to independently set and machine jobs
- Experience with Dean Smith & Grace or Webster & Bennett machinery would be advantageous
You don't need to be an expert on every machine. The key requirement is solid, practical manual machining experience and the ability to confidently handle general workshop machining.
What's on offer:
- Established and specialist engineering workshop
- Varied machining rather than repetitive production
- Opportunity to work alongside experienced machinists
- Exposure to a wide range of traditional machine tools
- A role where genuine manual machining skills are valued
