An established industrial manufacturing site is seeking an experienced Shift Electrician to join its site-based maintenance team. This is a hands-on role supporting a continuous process environment, working closely with production to ensure plant reliability, safety, and performance.
The Role of a Shift Electrician
You will be responsible for electrical maintenance, installation, and upgrade work across the site, while providing day-to-day production support within a shift team. Health and safety, quality of work, and operational continuity are central to this role.
Key Responsibilities of a Shift Electrician
- Carry out day-to-day electrical maintenance of plant and machinery
- Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults efficiently
- Complete risk assessments prior to undertaking work
- Install and maintain new and existing equipment with minimal disruption to production
- Accurately complete job sheets, logs, and maintenance records
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Support other engineering and operational teams when required
- Provide shift cover for holidays and sickness as needed
- Ensure all work complies with site health and safety standards
- Undertake additional duties as reasonably required
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements of Shift Electrician:
- Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
- Strong experience in electrical maintenance within a continuous process or manufacturing environment
- Proven fault-finding and breakdown response experience
- Familiarity with general factory maintenance practices
- Basic knowledge of PLC logic and inverter drives
- Strong communication skills and ability to work at all levels
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work under pressure
- Strong time management and prioritisation skills
Working Environment & Arrangements
- Site-based, factory/process environment
- 12-hour shifts covering days and nights, 4 on 4 off, 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off
- Flexibility to provide additional cover when required
The successful candidate will be expected to work in line with company policies and procedures, including health and safety and equal opportunities standards, and to maintain high levels of attendance, conduct, and professionalism.
