Our client, a well-established specialist in the machinery and equipment sector, is seeking an experienced Workshop Fitter to join their South Yorkshire-based team. The Role
Working from the company's workshop, you will be responsible for carrying out inspections, servicing, maintenance and repairs on a range of machinery and equipment. The role requires a proactive and self-motivated individual who can work independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out inspections, servicing and repairs on machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify faults across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Perform gearbox repairs and rebuilds where required.
- Complete detailed inspection and service reports.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to company standards.
- Identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Workshop Fitter, HGV Technician, Plant Fitter or similar engineering role.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience working on gearboxes.
- Good understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs independently.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised.
- Level 3 qualification in HGV Mechanics, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Plant Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Strong problem-solving and reporting skills.
Desirable
- Experience working on heavy machinery, lifting equipment or plant equipment.
- Welding or fabrication experience would be advantageous.
