We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fire Alarm Commissioning Engineer to join a growing and professional team delivering high quality fire detection and disabled refuge systems across the North East. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects ranging from small commercial premises through to large scale hospitals, universities, and multi building developments featuring complex addressable fire alarm systems.

As a Fire Alarm Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for the commissioning, testing, programming, and handover of fire alarm and refuge systems while ensuring compliance with relevant British Standards and project specifications. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to deliver reliable life safety systems to a high standard.

This position is ideal for a motivated and technically skilled engineer who enjoys fault finding, problem solving, and delivering excellent customer service. You will play a key role in ensuring systems are fully operational, compliant, and successfully handed over to clients.

  • Commission and hand over fire detection and disabled refuge systems across commercial and public sector sites
  • Carry out the initial set up, programming, testing, and fault finding of fire alarm systems
  • Work on both conventional non addressable and large addressable fire alarm networks
  • Ensure systems comply with relevant British Standards and project specifications
  • Liaise effectively with clients, project managers, subcontractors, and engineers
  • Plan and organise workloads to meet project deadlines and customer expectations
  • Identify, diagnose, and rectify faults on fire alarm and refuge systems
  • Support installation teams during commissioning and project completion stages

Proven experience working as a Fire Alarm Commissioning Engineer or Fire Alarm Engineer with strong commissioning experience is required, along with relevant fire alarm certifications and qualifications. A strong understanding of British Standards relating to fire alarm systems and the ability to produce accurate technical reports and commissioning documentation is essential. A full UK driving licence is also necessary.

Experience commissioning GENT, Vox Ignis, and mainstream open protocol equipment, as well as working on large addressable fire alarm systems within hospitals, universities, or large commercial sites is preferred.

Salary of £42,000 plus bonus, with a company bonus scheme based on overall business profitability. Holiday entitlement of 20 days plus bank holidays and Christmas shutdown, pension and death in service benefits, and a company vehicle provided. This is a long term permanent opportunity with career progression potential.
