Workshop Fitter – HGV / Plant Machinery South Yorkshire Monday – Friday | 8:00am – 4:30pm Our client, a well-established specialist in the machinery and equipment sector, is seeking an experienced Workshop Fitter to join their South Yorkshire-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanical engineer looking for a stable workshop-based role with long-term career progression into field service positions. The Role Working from the company's workshop, you will be responsible for carrying out inspections, servicing, maintenance and repairs on a range of machinery and equipment. The role requires a proactive and self-motivated individual who can work independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety. Key Responsibilities Carry out inspections, servicing and repairs on machinery and equipment. Diagnose and rectify faults across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems. Perform gearbox repairs and rebuilds where required. Complete detailed inspection and service reports. Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to company standards. Identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions. Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment. Requirements Essential Previous experience as a Workshop Fitter, HGV Technician, Plant Fitter or similar engineering role. Strong mechanical knowledge with experience working on gearboxes. Good understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems. Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs independently. Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised. Level 3 qualification in HGV Mechanics, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Plant Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Strong problem-solving and reporting skills. Desirable Experience working on heavy machinery, lifting equipment or plant equipment. Welding or fabrication experience would be advantageous. What's on Offer? Full-time, permanent position.
